Chair cautions against diminishing of science on MPharm

At the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Seminar, ‘Pharmacy in Great Britain’, Pharmacy Schools Council Chair Professor Nigel Ratcliffe stated that preregistration training should include opportunities for business and leadership training while the MPharm should retain its core focuses, in particular science.

Professor Ratcliffe said, “We don’t want to reduce the amount of kinetics, or therapeutics, for example, because we’ve got to introduce business terms and leadership.”

Speaking to the Pharmaceutical Journal, he also urged that the representative bodies within pharmacy communicate in a single voice to drive pharmacy as a sector. “There’s a lot we can do, but we need to speak as one voice,” he said.
